The fourth stop - Portland in Maine
During our visit to Portland, Tom Rainey, our Advisory Board member, warmly welcomed us at the Maine Port Authority together with other members from the Maine Center for Entrepreneurs, the Maine International Trade Center, as well as members of Maine Army National Guard who spent a lot of time in Montenegro with our army, exchanging experiences on the procedures of military leadership.
The well-known lawyer Sal Savatteri, a representative of Savatteri Law Firm, P.C., informed us about the procedures necessary for establishing a business, as well as the establishment and transfer of a company in America - all the steps, rules, and conditions.
From the Maine Center for Entrepreneurs, their program managers - Laurie Johnson and Terry Johnson - told us about the success of starting companies and the essential steps.
We heard more about technology-based business financing from Dan Piltch, Managing Partner at Broad Sound Partners Burak Sezen , Partner at The 6ixth Event, and Tom Kittredge from Maine Technology Institute.
As we announced, in this year's cohort, we also have two representatives of the Montenegrin academic community with a common goal of achieving cooperation and establishing connections between Montenegrin and American universities. In Portland, we discussed further steps with Dr. Susan McKay, Senior Program Manager at the University of Maine.
We were also generously welcomed at the New England Ocean Cluster, where their president Patrick Arnold spent time with us, as did lawyer Benjamin Ford, who shared helpful information about protecting intellectual property in the US.
Looking forward to achieving even more!
